The Swords represent the suit of action and intellect, ruled by the element of air. These cards address conflict, change, and power.
The Ace of Swords is represented by a sword struck by lightning and through this action – the sword becomes illuminated while surrounded by the dark. The sword is at the centre of the card and pops out as the main focus – dramatic, intense and glaring. Hiding nothing, it bares itself fully. The lightning strike represents a bolt of clarity – those moments when everything seems crystal clear and can be totally understood. But much like a lightning bolt, the quick flash of light doesn’t last long.
The snake skin wrapped around the sword is brightly coloured and lit with the sword. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or creative life force and a sense of primal energy. They are symbols of rebirth, transformation, and healing. The figure eight form is a symbol of eternity and the continual renewal of life.
This week is about being open to those quick spurts of clarity we may receive, particularly when it comes to the places within ourselves that need healing. When we heed those messages and clear ideas of what can help us move forward, we can begin to experience transformation and as a result – a fresh start or rebirth of ourselves.
Until next week, xo
